Start by washing your hair with a good shampoo and follow it with a nourishing conditioner. Wrap a towel around your head and drain away the excess wetness from the hair. Take a wide toothed comb and gently comb the hair right from the root to the tip. This will help to eliminate the frizz and detangle the hair. It will pre-straighten the hair and makes the job of blow dryer easier.
Apply a small amount hair protective serum or lotion if your hair is rough and dry. A mousse or gel can be applied to oily and fine hair types. The mousse or gel has to be concentrated towards the roots of the hair in order to produce the required ‘lift’.
Flip your head upside down and dry it from inside out. Comb your hair gently using your fingers. Always make it a habit to blow the air in the direction of hair growth. You can also direct it perpendicular to the scalp. Blow drying the hair in the upward direction will boost the ‘lift’ of your hair.
People with thick and rough hair can partition their hair into small sections and use clips to hold them in position. Always dry the hair at the bottom layers first and then start working on the top layers. Try to curl the hair at its ends. This will enhance the volume and give the hair a bounce.
Notes:- Using metal base round brushes are found effective in curling your hair. The heat of the blow dryer heats the metal and helps in achieving the curls much better.
Do not vigorously rub your hair using the towel. It can cause damage to the hair cuticles. Do not stretch or pull the hair when it is wet. It can cause hair loss or breakage.
